Samira Iravani is a New York native and Associate Art Director with the Macmillan Children's Publishing Group. Prior to that she was an Associate Art Director at Clarion Books (an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers), and a member of the Penguin Young Readers design group.

She is also co-author of the picture book, Mama Shamsi at the Bazaar (Dial BFYR), inspired by her mother’s childhood in Tehran, Iran.

Why Such Dainties?
These two words were borrowed from the poem "Turtle Soup" in Chapter Ten of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. They were used to claim my first creative space on the internet (sigh, livejournal) and have been part of my online presence ever since.
